Yingxi Peak Forest is located in southern China's Guangdong Province.

英西峰林位于中国南方广东省。

With more than 1,000 peaks, the forest stretches for more than 20 kilometers across the flat land.

1000多座山峰在平坦的大地上绵延了20多公里。

These small peaks rising from the ground are the result of hundreds of millions of years of water erosion.

这些拔地而起的小山峰是经历了亿万年流水侵蚀之后留下的。

This kind of landform is called Karst.

这种地貌被人们称作喀斯特。

Some 200 million years ago, there was a vast ocean here.

约2亿年前这里是一片汪洋大海。

In these seemingly hard rocks, a large number of bones and minerals of marine organisms have been found.

这些看似坚硬的岩石中沉积着大量海洋生物的骨骼及矿物质。

Among them, calcium carbonate washed away by continuously running water.

其中的碳酸钙会被流水带走。

The shape of the rocks changed as a result.

岩石的形状也随之改变。

Hundreds of millions of years of rain erosion has not only carved out peaks, but also scoured out caves underground.

数亿年的降雨冲刷不仅雕刻出一座座山峰也在地下冲刷出一个个溶洞。

The minerals dissolved in the water were deposited here, turning the caves into great halls full of grand columns.

那些溶解在水里的矿物质在这里重新沉积把溶洞变成了满是柱子的大厅。

The continuous flow of water caused some of these caves to collapse, And the Karst contributed a new geomorphic type-sinkholes.

当持续的流水使这些洞穴坍塌之后喀斯特又为我们贡献了新的地貌类型——天坑。

This may appear to us as an eye.

这个像眼睛一样望向我们的。

But it is a sinkhole.

就是一个天坑。

The battle between water and rock has crafted Yingxi Peak Forest into a fantastic landscape.
